How do I get started?
If you are considering psychological support for your child, the first step is simply to get in touch.
I offer a no-obligation 15-minute telephone conversation to briefly discuss your concerns and determine whether I may be able to support you and your child.
What happens after I make contact?
If we agree that an initial assessment would be appropriate, you will receive an email with further information about the process and your appointment.
What happens during the initial assessment?
The initial assessment lasts approximately 90 minutes. It provides an opportunity to:
-
Talk about the difficulties your child or young person is experiencing
-
Understand what you would like to achieve through therapy
-
Explore relevant background and circumstances
-
Consider the most appropriate way forward
-
Develop a plan for therapy together
It is also an opportunity for you and your child, where appropriate, to learn more about my approach and ask any questions about the therapy process.
Following the assessment I will provide you with an assessment report which will include a summary of what we discussed, my formulation, any agreed outcomes and recommendations for support.
If psychological therapy is not considered the most appropriate option following the assessment, I can provide information about alternative sources of support where possible.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are usually 60 minutes and are generally scheduled weekly or fortnightly, depending on individual needs and availability.
The number of sessions varies depending on the nature of the difficulties, therapeutic goals, and individual circumstances. There is no fixed number of sessions, and you are free to discuss ending therapy at any point.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. I currently provide therapy online via video sessions.
Having worked remotely for several years, I have extensive experience providing psychological support online. Online therapy can offer a number of benefits, including:
-
Access to support without travelling
-
Greater flexibility and convenience
-
The ability to attend sessions from a familiar environment
-
Access to therapy regardless of geographical location
Online therapy is not suitable for everyone, and this can be discussed during the initial conversation.
How much do sessions cost?
Fees can vary among mental health professionals, and can be dependent on professional background, academic qualifications and years of experience. Please get in touch to discuss and I would be happy to provide you with this information.
A reduced rate may be available depending on individual circumstances. Please feel free to discuss this with me.
When do I pay for my appointment?
Fees are usually payable in advance by direct bank transfer. Further information about payment and cancellations will be provided when your appointment is arranged.
Please refer to the Cancellation Policy for information about cancelling or rescheduling appointments.
What information do I need to provide when I contact you?
You only need to provide some brief information about the difficulties you or your child are experiencing and what you would like support with.
We can then discuss whether my service is appropriate and, where suitable, arrange an initial assessment.
What if I am not sure whether therapy is right for my child?
That is completely understandable. The 15-minute introductory telephone conversation provides an opportunity to ask questions, briefly discuss your concerns, and explore whether an initial assessment would be appropriate.
There is no obligation to proceed.
How do I arrange an appointment?
If you would like to explore psychological therapy or have any questions about the services I offer, please get in touch. I would be happy to speak with you and discuss the next steps.
